Abstract
The paper deals with the general considerations relating to hydro-electric development in Great Britain, and describes the conditions under which such developments are practicable, and their limitations. The various hydro-electric installations which have been constructed are referred to in general, and reference in detail is made to that of the Grampian Electricity Supply Co., covering the civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering works. A general description is also given of the principal features of the main distribution system, over which the bulk of the power generated is transmitted.
