Abstract
Computer systems that compile a software description of a circuit into a finished IC are known as silicon compilers. The commercial exploitation of silicon compilation is an almost exclusively American phenomenon, with the Edinburgh-based Lattice Logic representing the only UK company active in this developing, if esoteric, market.
