Abstract
Although a relative latecomer to nuclear power, W. Germany has established a substantial nuclear generating capacity based on light-water-reactor technology. The use of standardised designs, and an attention to engineering detail, has ensured that German nuclear-power plants achieve load factors which rank them among the best in the world
