Abstract :
In 2004 the very first Joint Cross-Border EMC Market Surveillance Campaign got underway. Ten years and five campaigns later, the headlines still make for bleak reading with unacceptably low levels of both technical and administrative compliance being reported. Even the physical act of applying the CE Mark eludes some manufacturers. Others do take their regulatory responsibilities seriously but with such low levels of compliance in some market sectors are they now at a competitive disadvantage and will the provisions of the New Legislative Framework incorporated into the third edition of the EMC Directive improve matters?
