Abstract :
This column describes an engineering competition between two of the United States´ oldest engineering schools, the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that promotes saving lives though applied advances in technology. A story about one successful undergraduate experience illustrates how students can become what employers seek and society requires from educational institutions.
