  • Abstract
A novel control strategy is presented in this paper to attain appropriate real power sharing among converter-based distributed generators (DGs) in a microgrid. The presented strategy employs automatic adaptation to two droop-based techniques namely unit power control (UPC) and feeder flow control (FFC). A combination of these techniques is used for the microgrid. Smart droop tuning is reflected in the control strategy by employing a new metaheuristic algorithm called Cuckoo Search (CS) to coordinate the power sharing of the DG units. In comparison to the ancestral metaheuristic algorithms, the CS algorithm benefits from stronger random processes with fewer set parameters. A kind of optimization is scheduled for power sharing. In addition to preservation of the ratio of DGs rated powers, overshoot and settling time of active powers are reflected in the cost function of optimization. The veracity of the proposed control strategy is investigated by digital time domain simulation studies.
