Abstract :
In this paper, a lightning return-stroke model that considers a nonlinear resistance is used to investigate the influence of three different parameters on lightning-induced voltages on a nearby overhead line, namely channel conductivity, initial channel radius, and a constant responsible for controlling the rate of radial expansion of the channel. The obtained results suggest that the modification of the return-stroke current resulting from realistic variations of such parameters is unlikely to lead to significant changes on calculated lightning-induced voltages.
