Abstract
In this paper a new scheme is introduced for slip power recovery of wound rotor induction machines in the industrial applications. The main components of the proposed circuit include a static rectifier, a boost chopper and a three-level T-type DC/AC converter. Furthermore, the main specifications of the proposed slip power recovery drive are high quality of the output voltage, acceptable power factor of the drive, and independent control of the machine speed and output reactive power. Simulation studies confirm acceptable operation of the drive in terms of speed tracking and load handling. Also, the traditional Kramer drive is simulated to provide some behavior comparisons with proposed SPR drive.
