Abstract :
For part I see, ibid., p. 2633, 1999. Based on considerations of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of light modulation, the case of the polar Faraday effect in a magneto-optical light modulator is solved analytically. For all other cases of Faraday and Kerr effects a numerical calculation is presented. Finally, the suitability of the derived algorithm is proved by comparing the calculated results with measurements on permalloy and iron films
