Abstract :
A high power superfluorescent Er-doped fibre source with an environment-insensitive single-transverse-mode output is demonstrated using multimode fibre. The efficient fundamental mode selection is explained by strong ground state absorption. The fibres deliver up to ≃770 mW of output power with the highest conversion efficiency of 58%
