Abstract :
´Engineers regard people in the City as short sighted and overpaid´. ´The City regards engineers as the backroom staff who keep the lights on and the engines running´. The bridge between these two communities is essential for sustaining the wealth of the UK, but is it effective, does it carry two-way traffic and is it in a good state of repair? This article aims to present both sides of the argument, for engineering and for the City, in the hope it will assist in strengthening the bridge and directing the flow of traffic between them.
