Abstract
Vertebrae Localization is a vital step in diagnosis of many pathological diseases like scoliosis, kyphosis and lordosis. Localization of vertebrae becomes challenging due to varying contrast of the medical scans, inconsistent shape and size of spine in different human beings and abnormalities in the spine like metal implants or spine pathologies. This paper reviews the different techniques for localizing vertebrae. A comprehensive discussion is given by listing the advantages and disadvantages of the most prominent methods which will help the researches to choose one method over the other based on its merits.
