Abstract :
The SNR excursions associated with power transients in chains of EDFAs contribute to the signal transmission penalty during power fluctuations in WDM optical systems. Analytical formulas that associate the SNR excursion with the power excursion and the amplifier number at the beginning and the end of the transient period are derived for a chain of gain equalised EDFAs
