Abstract :
WDM-system crosstalk is generated by nonlinear polarisation modulation (the optical Kerr effect) followed by polarisation dependent loss (PDL). Theory and experiment show that at typical PDL values, this crosstalk can exceed that from stimulated Raman scattering and cross-phase modulation
