Abstract
Over the past four decades, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, Boston-area teaching hospitals, and an assortment of research centers have worked together in a unique collaboration that integrates science, medicine, and engineering to solve problems in human health. This collaboration is the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Tech nology (HST), which first began in 1970 when the MIT and Harvard Medical School agreed to develop a joint program in medical science.
