Abstract :
A congestion control strategy for multipoint packet voice communication is proposed. The voice signal is packetised into ´guaranteed´ packets and ´enhancement´ packets. When congestion occurs, a suitable number of enhancement packets destined for the fewest number of destinations are discarded. This can minimise the number of people affected by temporary degradation in voice quality during congestion.
