Abstract
An experiment is described which shows that the e.m.f.induced in a circuit consisting of a cylindrical tube moving concentrically along a straight current-carrying conductor, and stationary leads connected to the inner and outer surfaces of the tube by sliding contacts, is independent of thepermeability of the tube. The experiment appears to be of some interest in connection with the question of the correct formulation of the laws of electromagnetic induction.
