Abstract :
The East Anglian Regional Health Authority has under construction at the St. John´s hospital site at Peterborough a 140-bed building project for geriatric patients, which will become Britain´s first all-electric hospital. Clearly, all hospital buildings are using electricity as an energy source for a wide variety of applications. The term ?all-electric? is an easy colloquial way of describing a hospital that depends exclusively on electricity as an energy source for all purposes, including space heating, domestic hot water supply and for meal preparation and cooking.
