Abstract :
In recent years, many large academic networks have deployed a dynamic circuit network (DCN) controller, such as OSCARS or autoBAHN, to provide on-demand virtual circuits (VCs) across multiple administrative domains. The challenge in implementing a DCN is inter-domain quality of service (QoS) provisioning. In practice, service-sensitive applications, e.g., large distributed systems and live-video applications, require not only bandwidth guarantee but also high availability. This paper proposes explicit QoS framework in an inter-domain DCN, in which the user can specify the path selection policies (PSPs), i.e., least hop, highest availability (loose QoS), or highest availability (strict QoS). For an availability constraint, a probabilistic link failure model is used to find high-availability paths. The system is developed on OSCARS v.6, and the experiments on the control plane are presented in this paper.
