Abstract :
The analytical expression of the small-signal gain, including the space-charge effects, is obtained for an electromagnetically pumped free-electron laser with an axial-guide magnetic field by using the cold-fluid theory. An amplifying coefficient is introduced to describe the effects of the axial-guide magnetic field for conventional experiments
