Abstract :
This paper presents a brushless permanent-magnet (PM) DC motor for use as the spindle motor in a CD-ROM drive. The proposed motor is a slotted stator and an outer-rotor which uses a high energy magnet, neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) for excitation. The design and optimization of the motor was done with the aid of electromagnetic field analysis based on the finite element method. Computational and experimental results of the motor are included
