Abstract
In a research environment that is increasingly becoming team based and geographically dispersed, embracing Web 2.0 technologies, specifically online forums, simplifies manuscript revisions using online collaboration. The inherent structure of forums forces organization, capitalizes on hypertext linking to relevant content within the forum and to other online sources, has a WYSIWYG content editor, and allows time-shifted conversations using RSS. Using forum technology greatly reduces the chance of concepts disappearing or being rehashed due to long, unorganized e-mail threads, and forum content can easily be reformatted for use in a response letter.
