Abstract :
This paper describes the test procedures and field measurements for a power system stabilizer which is based on the integral of accelerating power input. Testing is important to verify the performance of the PSS under actual system conditions, and confirm the study results. The basic test methods described here can also be applied to other PSS designs using different input signals. This paper shows that some of the test procedures are facilitated by features which are now available in the newer digital based excitation systems, which were not part of previous equipment designs
