Abstract
The present paper is a reprint from Proceedings of the IRE, vol.1, no.1, p.14-36 (1913 January). The paper presents information regarding the properties of insulators which may be used in radiocommunication. The dielectrics considered are: air/compressed air, insulating oils, mica, micanite, paraffin wax, hard rubber, vulcanized rubber, glass, porcelain, sulphur, lava, aetna, lavite, and marble. Antenna suspension insulators are also discussed
