Abstract :
Although I have been an Associate Editor of the ITS Magazine since its inception four years ago, this marks the last issue of my first year as the Editor-in-Chief (EiC). I am glad to end on a high note with our largest issue of the year. In the four issues of 2012, we published 12 papers, all of which went through the rigorous review process of the ITS Magazine. Equally as important, all four issues were published on-time, which is a requirement for receiving an impact factor! Although we most likely will not receive an impact factor in 2013, we should receive one in early 2014. To ensure we receive the highest impact factor possible, we need to continue to have high-quality submissions that are useful and referenced other places in the community. In short, I hope that authors and reviewers continue with the rigor and high standards they have during my first year as EiC. Being involved in the ITS Society has helped me to form those relationships with people whose research areas are quite different than my own. It has also offered me the ability to meet and network with professors whose books and papers I read while I was a student, which is quite exciting for me. Having said all of that, I hope that you enjoy the great issue of the ITS Magazine that we have put together to wrap up 2012. The papers in this issue all address core topics in the field of ITS´ tracking objects (including vehicles) and providing notification messages to them.
