Solar energy is freely and readily available but its collection and conversion is capital intensive. Although the technical feasibility of harnessing solar energy has been demonstrated in many areas, efficient economic exploitation has yet to be achieved. But with the current scale of research and development, we may optimistically expect that several of the solar technologies now being investigated will prove successful in providing power on both the small and large scale
