Abstract
The on-load tapchanger contains the only moving parts connected into the transformer windings. Reliability is critical to the very survival of plant valued at many times the cost of the tapchanger: it is called on to operate for up to 40 years with minimal maintenance and to electrical standards compatible with the transformer
