Head in the Clouds, Feet on the Ground

I met Alberto for the first time in 1978 when I was at Stanford University, in Palo Alto, California, for my master´s in EE and Alberto was just beginning his research and teaching career at the University of California, Berkeley. Those were the golden years for EDA, and lots of great ideas were under development: at Stanford under Robert Dutton (at my lab, AEL) and of course at Berkeley by the wonderful team made up of Pederson, Newton, Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, and those they worked with.
