Abstract
To operate a broadcast transmitter network automatically requires the use of instrumentation for the control and monitoring of outstation equipment as well as for the acquisition and reporting of fault information. The BBC has two monitoring centres designed to do these tasks: the first came into service in 1975, the second in April 1978. Only four stations are needed to cover Britain and Northern Ireland
