Abstract :
The assignment of colour images to data obtained during remote-sensing investigations has enabled the human observer to make easier and alternative diagnostic interpretations that may not be apparent in grey-scale representation. `False colour¿ has been used to display infrared and other nonoptical imagery to advantage, and similar ideas can be applied to the representation of microwave fields
