Industry and education ¿ a love-hate relationship

The close relation between industry and higher education results both in cooperation and misunderstanding. The majority of new entrants to the electrical engineering profession receive no formal training, and this can only be corrected by industry. Most British professional engineers are also undereducated, but this can be remedied by the universities if industry will support postgraduate education
