Abstract
It is shown that the solution of a linear system of equations permits the determination of all scattering parameters of an n-port microwave structure with the aid of a resonance technique based on transmission and length measurements and a nonresonance procedure based on reflection coefficient measurements. The resonance method is primarily intended for lossless networks but its extension to lossy networks is discussed.
