Abstract :
This letter reports on the evaluation of the performance of an optical current transducer (OCT) prior to commencement of a year-long engineering assessment, which is scheduled to take place within the British Short Circuit Testing Station. The authors report on the operation of an automatic signal conditioning facility that has been implemented to compensate for deficiencies in the sensor performance associated with temperature variations and mechanical vibrations. Their trials indicate that protection class operation is feasible with the present system
