  • Abstract
This paper presents a versatile cardiac arrhythmia simulator whose generated waveform could be used in simulated testing of medical equipment, in demonstration, education or calibration processes. The linearization of an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal, the principle of coding and the programmability are analyzed. Finally, the implementation of the simulator using a CMOS 8-bit microprocessor and peripherals are described. In this version of simulator, the programmability has been made accessible to every user. All inherent parameters of different waves in an ECG, such as amplitude, slope, duration, and overall frequency could be interactively modified by software through external controls.
