Abstract :
This paper describes an application of pseudorandom sequences to the encoding of absolute-type position transducers. A notable reduction in code-track number, and implicitly in the manufacturing complexity of the encoded disk, is achieved in this way. An absolute 360-position shaft encoder illustrates the features of the pseudorandom encoding technique that is described.
