Abstract :
Thanks to the cooperation of our editorial review committee, by June of 1984 The Editor was able to report that the backlog of papers extending more than two years had been cleaned up. The reviewers willingly cooperated with my conversion from a "pull" to a "push" system. Under the "pull" system, a list of available manuscript titles and authors was distributed periodically to the reviewers for them to choose the ones they were willing to review. This often left "unwanted" manuscripts begging for a very long time. At the same time the Editor began "pushing" to three reviewers rather than the required two in order to cover the occasions when one reviewer was unable to respond in a timely manner. Now only two out of three are needed to keep the process rolling. Finally, he is pleased to report that except for occasional mail delays, every issue in the past four years has been distributed on or before the issue date.
