Abstract :
This paper deals with the latest technology and best practices for commissioning new and diagnosing aged shielded power cable systems. This article is an overview covering best practices for commissioning new installations and applying predictive diagnostic programs to aging cable systems rated 5 kV and higher with extruded insulation and a metallic shield. It examines the failure mechanism in extruded cable and accessories.
