Abstract :
High definition of medical ultrasound images is strongly required. Recently, studies for ultrasound imaging using second harmonics have been advanced for this purpose. However, a living body has the property of frequency dependent attenuation (FDA). FDA is a problem that cannot be ignored when using the second harmonics for imaging. In this study, we propose an FDA compensation method for second harmonic pulse compression imaging in which ideal formed FM chirp echoes are received after having the distortion due to FDA by modulating the amplitude of a transmission signal.
