Abstract :
A new IIR adaptive filter structure is proposed. It is based on modelling the impulse response of the system to be identified as a linear combination of a set of discrete orthogonal functions. Computer simulations show that the proposed structure has better convergence performance than FIR transversal filters, when they are required to identify systems with long impulse response. The comparison is made on the basis that both of them have the same number of multipliers
