Abstract :
80 Gbit/s (5.3 Gbit/s 16 WDM) signal transmission has been successfully achieved by using installed 1130 km long submarine cable. The measured value of the Q factor is 17.8 dB, on average. This system is designed for both single channel transmission and future WDM transmission. These results will be useful for system design considering future capacity upgrading by WDM technology
