Abstract :
In previous investigations, only the transmission characteristics of long pitch fibre ratings have been considered. This investigation studies the reflection characteristics of a long pitch grating. Coupled mode theory, predicts `high order harmonic´ features in reflection, for which experimental verification is provided. Temperature and strain coefficients of the harmonics are characterised at wavelengths of 1281 and 1533 nm
