Abstract :
When a subset of nodes or links in a network fails, routing protocols should properly recover reliable routes that consist of functioning nodes by refreshing routing information. However, when intermittent successes in packet delivery occur under a dominant failure in communications, routing protocols can experience significant performance degradation due to a misunderstanding that a route has been recovered, even though this may not be the case. From this perspective, we analyze how a routing protocol experiences this problem caused by jamming. Then, we present an effective and resource-efficient jamming strategy that can significantly degrade the data delivery by exploiting the vulnerability of routing operations.
