Abstract
We used an agent-based modeling approach to study the bullwhip effect under different demand patterns, order policies, and supply chain structures. We are able to confirm that information sharing can reduce the bullwhip effect across various demand patterns. Furthermore, we extended the serial supply chains to supply chain networks, and verified that the benefit of information sharing is also present in networked supply chains.
