Abstract :
Recent researches have highlighted the impulsive nature of the aggregated network traffic, and consequently α-stable distribution models have been widely used to capture the observed impulsiveness. Presented is an analytical demonstration of aggregated network traffic converging to totally positively skewed α-stable distribution, which provides inherent mechanism explanation for the widely used α-stable distribution models. Simulations validate the accuracy of the presented theoretical analysis.
