Abstract
It is proposed that a series of system simulation studies be prepared for the bulk power system of the northwestern United States, and that they include a pumped storage hydro project. The objective is to demonstrate the extent to which the pumped storage project, with adjustable speed machines, could have minimized the effects of the July and August 1996 system disturbances
