Abstract :
A Fourier transform optical spectrum analyser is described which uses the stretching of a polarisation-maintaining optical fibre as the scanning element. Delay scans of 15 mm have been achieved in 50 ms allowing a resolution bandwidth of 10 GHz. Future systems with greatly improved resolution are envisaged.<>
