Application of fuses to power networks

The first tutorial in this three-part series looked at the early use of fuses from 1864 and at basic fuselink behaviour. This second article considers the use of fuselinks in power networks including characteristics, I²t values and operating frequency. A number of general matters are considered and then arrangements which have to be adopted to provide adequate protection and discrimination in a number of particular applications are considered in some detail
