British Rail´s Network SouthEast sector will shortly be introducing Britain´s first fleet of trains fitted with induction motor drives. The author describes how optimisation of the benefits of these drives, and resolution of the potential problems that they present, has been achieved by consideration of trains and infrastructure as interdependent parts of an overall system
