Abstract :
λ/4 shifted DFB lasers having bandwidth of 11 GHz have been developed. A floor owing to TE-TM mode partition has been observed in 1.8 Gbit/s bit-error-rate measurements. This is verified to be due to a weak mode selection between TE and TM mode
