Abstract :
A high speed focus control method is one of the important features of a video camera. This paper presents a new optical detector (OPD) that provides a high-speed auto focus (AF) control. The optical detector detects data to control AF, auto exposure (AE) and auto white balance (AWB). A conventional optical detector detects only one characteristic data in a field, however, the new OPD detects several characteristic data in a field. Therefore this new optical detector can execute high speed detection for AF control. The new optical detector implements the above functions by switching the filter coefficient every line
